✨ Event Highlights & Educational Value

The core of this experience is "The Scent of Village Life." We will take you on a sensory journey through traditional Hakka daily life—exploring local beliefs, the land, water canals, and family gardens.

Guided by a local expert, you will discover common Hakka herbs grown right in their backyards, such as Mugwort, Chrysanthemum, Perilla, Da-Feng Herb, and Heartleaf. Through a scent-collection passport, hands-on foraging, and forest mindfulness, you will awaken your sense of smell. You will also learn to make traditional "Mo-Cao" (Warding Herb) Bundles, a local spiritual practice for peace and protection.

After foraging, you will craft your own personalized dried herbal compress ball to take home. We will wrap up the journey by tasting local delicacies like Hakka Mugwort Mochi (Ai-Cao Ban), allowing you to absorb the indigenous culture through nature, craftsmanship, and local flavors!

>>Itinerary (Morning 09:30-12:00 / Afternoon 13:30-16:00)

(Note: Afternoon schedule is identical, shifted by 4 hours)

  • 09:20 | Gathering Meet at "Bao-Ge Farm" (寶哥農園).

  • 09:30 | Awakening the Senses Introduction to the local water canals. Receive your "Scent Collection Passport."

  • 09:40 | The Satoyama Spirit Learn about the "Satoyama" concept—the harmony between people and nature—and explore the landscape from Zhangshu Village to Shuangfeng Mountain.

  • 09:50 | Scent Foraging: Chrysanthemum Walk through the chrysanthemum fields. Rub the leaves to release their unique aroma, jot down your sensory reflections, and learn about their growth cycle.

  • 10:00 | Village Exploration (Two Groups)

    • Group A (Forest Therapy & Beliefs): Visit the local Earth God (Bo-Gong) Shrine. In the camphor tree forest behind the shrine, search for blessing amulets. Practice forest mindfulness, hug the trees, and craft your own "Mo-Cao" Warding Bundle for peace of mind.

    • Group B (Auntie's Herbal Garden): Step into a traditional Hakka garden. Observe plant characteristics, collect stamps for your passport, and document the scents of crushed leaves while exploring your own memory of these natural aromas. (Groups will swap halfway)

  • 10:40 | Mini Herbal Exhibition Return to the community center for a beautifully arranged showcase of the herbs we just collected. Our local auntie will explain their traditional household uses.

  • 10:50 | Herbal Cleansing Ritual Transition from outdoor excitement to indoor relaxation. Refresh yourself using traditional "Da-Feng" herbal water, a classic Hakka method for soothing the body.

  • 11:00 | DIY Herbal Compress Ball Share your scent discoveries! Using the personal "Scent Wheel" you created during the walk, blend your own custom herbal compress ball designed for warmth and relaxation.

  • 11:30 | Reflection & Tea Time A closing circle of gratitude. Reflect on your newfound connection to the village while enjoying traditional Hakka Mugwort Mochi and a warm cup of local Tongluo Chrysanthemum tea.
