At the southernmost end of Taiwan’s breathtaking Yushan Mountain Range lies Qishan, a small town once world-famous for its banana industry. In the 1950s, it was known as the “Banana Kingdom”, serving as the agricultural and tourism gateway to Kaohsiung’s mountain region and a vital transportation hub for eastern Kaohsiung. However, with the decline of the sugar and banana export industries, the town’s economy faded, leading to population migration.
Time moves on, but nostalgia doesn’t have to mean sorrow. We are a group of young people deeply connected to our hometown, committed to sustainable urban-rural development. Our goal is to bring together like-minded individuals to rediscover Qishan’s rich agricultural heritage and cultural identity.
