One Day in Anping!

Historic Houses × Tree House × Hidden Alleys × Yuguang Island

Think Anping is all about shrimp crackers and the Old Street? Think again!

Start your day in a century-old mansion, dress up in traditional clothing, and experience an ancient-style “first-choice” ceremony. Then explore a mysterious warehouse taken over by giant banyan trees, taste your way through Anping’s famous local snacks, wander through hidden alleys in search of Sword Lions, and end the day by the sea on Yuguang Island.

One day, one journey—from historic Anping all the way to the coast. Get ready to discover a side of Anping you may have never seen before!

10:00|Lu Jing-Tang Historic Residence

Step into a century-old home and travel back in time

Our first stop is the historic Lu Jing-Tang Residence, also known as the Wangcheng West Lu Residence.

Built for Lu Jing-Tang, a wealthy Anping merchant during the late Qing Dynasty and Japanese colonial period, this impressive residence is an important example of traditional Taiwanese architecture.

There was even a local saying about the house: “You may find someone as wealthy as Lu Jing-Tang, but you won’t find another house as grand as his.”

And we’re not just here to look around!

Dress up in traditional costumes, take some unique photos in the historic residence, and experience a fun traditional “first-choice” ceremony. You may be a little older than the usual participants—but who knows what your choice will say about your future?

11:00|Anping Tree House × Tait & Co. Merchant House × Zhu Jiuying Residence

Unlock three fascinating stories in one stop

Next, we head to one of Anping’s most extraordinary sights—the Anping Tree House.

Over the past century, giant banyan trees have slowly taken over the old warehouse. Their roots spread across the walls while their branches form a natural roof above the building, creating an amazing scene where architecture and nature become one.

Walking through the Tree House feels almost like stepping into another world. You can also try the traditional waterwheel and climb up for a view of the Yanshui River area.
