【Rooted in the Community: Jingtong】
Established in 1993, the Jingtong Community Development Association aims to build a modern community defined by solidarity and mutual support. In response to the challenges of an aging population in the Pingxi District, the association actively integrates local resources to cultivate an age-friendly environment known as "The Five Pillars of a Blessed Life"—promoting Joyful Living, Ecological Abundance, Productive Self-sufficiency, Lifelong Learning, and Life Legacy. Through these efforts, we consolidate a profound momentum for community empowerment within this remote rural area.
【Green Transformation: Reading Jingtong】
In recent years, the Association has championed the “Reading Jingtong” brand, transforming Taiwan's largest coal-mining settlement heritage into a premier destination for Green Tourism. Through the “Jingtong Tree Restoration” initiative and the “Slag Heap Hiking” experience, we profoundly integrate cultural preservation with ecological sustainability. By exploring a century of mining heritage, we infuse this historic settlement with the revitalized energy of environmental consciousness and creative local growth.
