"Truku Youth Rising from the Ferns of the East Coast"
In 2021, a group of young Truku people returned to their hometown and witnessed the challenges their communities faced—such as limited local industries, cultural preservation concerns, and youth employment issues. In response, they founded Fern Rise from the East (後山蕨起), a youth-led initiative focused on creating innovative local employment opportunities, revitalizing and adding value to indigenous industries, and preserving Truku cultural heritage. Their efforts have not only brought renewed energy to the community but also fostered broader recognition and appreciation of Truku traditions and identity.
